Welcome to WIA Korean, a free service that helps people learn to read and study the Korean language. The service is operated by Smilestory Co., Ltd. ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using korean.wiasoom.com, our related apps, or our YouTube channels, you ("you", "user") agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
WIA Korean provides Korean-language learning content, including lessons, practice exercises, spaced-repetition study tools, optional exams and certificates, and original educational videos published to our YouTube channels. Most learning content is available for free, and much of it can be used anonymously without an account.
You agree not to: (a) misuse, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its systems; (b) copy, scrape, resell, or redistribute our content except as expressly permitted; (c) use the service to violate any law or the rights of others; or (d) attempt to circumvent any access, security, or rate-limiting measures.
All lessons, course materials, videos, audio, graphics, and software provided through the service are owned by Smilestory Co., Ltd. or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the content for your own learning. You may not reproduce or distribute our content for commercial purposes without our written permission.
We publish our own original educational videos to our YouTube channels using the YouTube Data API. Our use is limited to uploading and managing our own content (videos, thumbnails, playlists, and descriptions); we do not access, collect, or store data belonging to other YouTube users through the API. When you watch our videos on YouTube, you are also bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and your data is handled under the Google Privacy Policy. Our handling of any data received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Optional exams and certificates (including WIA CKL credentials) are provided as a learning and assessment tool. Eligibility, scoring, and issuance follow the rules published on the service. Certificates are issued in good faith based on the information you provide; we may revoke a certificate obtained through fraud or misrepresentation.
Core learning content is free. Certain optional features may require payment. Where fees apply, the price and terms will be shown before you purchase. Unless stated otherwise or required by law, fees are non-refundable.
Your use of the service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we collect and how we use it.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that learning outcomes or exam results are guaranteed.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Smilestory Co., Ltd. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
We may suspend or terminate access to the service, in whole or in part, if you violate these Terms or applicable policies, or to protect the service and its users.
We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
