WIA Korean is a free service that helps people learn to read and study the Korean language. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. The service is operated by Smilestory Co., Ltd. ("we", "us"). By using korean.wiasoom.com or our related apps and YouTube channels, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Learning activity: When you practice (answers, lesson progress, spaced-repetition scheduling) we store this so we can track your progress. Public practice can be used anonymously without an account.
Account information (optional): If you sign in to save progress, take an exam, or claim a certificate, we receive your email address and basic profile (e.g., display name, and for certificates: name and nationality you provide). We do not collect passwords directly; sign-in is handled by our login service.
Technical data: Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) used for security and reliability.

2. How We Use Information

To provide and personalize lessons, practice, and progress tracking.
To issue and verify optional certificates you request.
To operate, secure, and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. YouTube & Google API Services

We publish our own original educational videos to our YouTube channels using the YouTube Data API. This use is limited to uploading and managing our own content (videos, thumbnails, playlists, and descriptions). We do not access, collect, or store any data belonging to other YouTube users or viewers through the API. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. When you watch our videos on YouTube, your interaction with YouTube is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

4. Third-Party Services

YouTube (video hosting and our channels).
Text-to-speech & audio used to generate lesson narration. Practice audio is generated server-side; we do not require your microphone for free listening practice.
If you opt into speaking practice, audio you submit is processed only to score your pronunciation and is not used to identify you.

5. Cookies

We use minimal cookies/local storage to remember your language choice and keep you signed in. You can clear these in your browser at any time.

6. Data Retention & Security

We keep learning and account data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service, and apply reasonable safeguards to protect it. You may request deletion of your account data (see Contact).

7. Children

The service is intended for general audiences learning Korean. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a manner that requires verifiable parental consent; if you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Your Choices

Use most learning content anonymously, without an account.
Access, correct, or delete your account data by contacting us.
Unsubscribe from any optional communications.

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
